A small number of mandates, held to one standard
Valo Capital was founded on a simple premise: investors are better served by a manager who can explain, in plain terms, exactly what it does with their capital and why.
“Valo” is the Finnish and Estonian word for light. Too many allocators end up holding products they can no longer fully explain to their own clients. We wanted to avoid that, so Valo runs a small set of strategies, each with a clear reason to exist in a client's portfolio.
We currently manage five distinct mandates: a technology strategy focused on structural digital themes, a money market strategy for institutional cash management, a dedicated access vehicle into Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City development, a Shariah-compliant strategy under independent supervision, and a selective allocation sleeve into third-party managers where they offer something we cannot build in-house.
Every mandate goes through the same underwriting process and reports the same way. All of them are offered only to institutions and accredited individuals who want to deal directly with the people managing their capital. There's no self-service subscription portal here.
Built as a Variable Capital Company
What a VCC is
A Variable Capital Company (VCC) is a corporate structure purpose-built for investment funds under Singapore law. It allows a single umbrella entity to house multiple sub-funds, each with segregated assets and liabilities, under one board and one set of service providers.
Why we chose it
The VCC structure lets Valo run five distinct strategies (technology, money market, Bhutan GMC access, Shariah-compliant, and select third-party allocations) as ring-fenced sub-funds. Risk in one mandate stays in that mandate; it doesn't spill into the others.
Governance
Valo Capital VCC is overseen by its board of directors and administered with independent fund administration, custody, and audit arrangements. Our Shariah-compliant sub-fund is additionally supervised by an independent Shariah advisory board.

Valo is a small group of investment, structuring, and compliance professionals. We keep it that way on purpose. If you're a prospective investor, you'll meet the actual team during onboarding, not read about them on a page of headshots.
